This blog post was inspired to answer a few questions from an Informative Post author. To view the article I’ll be referencing and its comments, please refer back to: http://www.informativepost.com/2008/01/25/Expedite-Your-Review-272.htm
No problem answering your questions Topper! What is a blog? A blog is short for web-log, or basically an online journal. Like on the Informative Post, our blog is used to update our members on new features and other updates. We did move the Informative Post blog to BrownPHP.com. Let me know if I need to explain it in more detail.
I think you are confusing “featuring” and “expediting” articles. Featuring an article puts your article on the top of the homepage that has already been published. While it is being featuring every page view that the article gets will be multiplied by 3. So while it is being featured, it will get more traffic for being Featured at the top of the homepage, and all that traffic will get multiplied by THREE. If the article is written well, and was on a “buzzy” topic, this can increase an author’s AP greatly. BUT you should only do this with an article that people will want to read, because if it doesn’t get any traffic… it won’t get and page views… the page views won’t be tripled = a waste of money.
Now, expediting an article you basically forfeit the money that you would earn if the article were to be published in exchange to have it reviewed within 24hrs.
Many authors have had their AP rise from under 10 to over 200 by writing about a current event that is getting a lot of press, then expediting it. Right when it gets published, they would feature the article. So all the traffic they get from that article gets tripled.
To review: Yes they did forfeit the few bucks they could have earned initially, but they increased their AP so much that all the articles that they write from then on will be reviewed much much more timely, and not to mention they made their money back in page views. But again, it all depends on how much traffic that the article could potentially draw in.

Thank you Doug for answering Topper’s questions in such a timely and well written fashion. I would also like to thank you for adding the chance to keep track of our page views once we get past the first ten articles published. Keep up the great work!
Have a great day,

@DeanSmithLegend – No problem. I just got that done this morning, so all the authors should now be able to track ALL their articles page views. I admit that this should have been added a long time ago.
Expediting articles is now running working. You no longer have to email me. All you have to do is click expedite on the article you want in your queue. Then your article will be reviewed within 12 hrs. Most likely quicker than that.
Also the “Vote” number on everyone’s articles always displayed as 0. This was brought to my attention by another author at Informative Post. Anyway, I fixed it, and there should be an accurate count next to everyone’s articles again!
If any of you have any other suggestions on features you would like to see or something isn’t working, please let me know.

I thought I left a replay to this but it’s not there…hum..anyway, thanks Doug. It is much clearer now. Thanks for the prompt and easy to understand reply.

Doug – suggestion: It would be nice if someplace in the overview or where ever it would be best served, if there were dollar amounts next to articles that were accepted for jobs. Seeing the actual $$’s would give added incentive to write for more of the jobs. Also, people like to see what the money they get paid includes. Thanks.
November 24th, 2008 on 3:38 pm
Good idea. I didn’t want to show the articles that they wrote since technically they have been sold to our clients, but showing the dollar amount is a good idea. I’ll get to work on it.

Look in your account overview again. You should now have a “Job Performance” row underneath Affiliate Performance. Let me know what you think and if it is showing you the correct statistics. Thanks for the suggestions.
November 24th, 2008 on 5:02 pm
In Account Overview the row is there and it is showing the correct number accepted but $0.
Just as another thought to this if say starting with the next job you get give them sequential numbers that way there would be no mention of the job name/article name but everyone would have a way to reference it.???
November 24th, 2008 on 5:14 pm
Ok, I made another change, let me know if it shows you the correct amount of money now.
Why do you need to reference the article you wrote after it is accepted for a client? If it is no longer yours, I don’t think there is any reason that you would need to reference it? Am I misunderstanding?
Let me know. Thanks.
November 24th, 2008 on 8:34 pm
The reason I would want to reference any article is for my own records.
I have a file of titles of articles I have submitted/accepted. When I am paid I would like to check them off. This is just for my tracking. I am an independent contractor. When I do a job it is entere4d in my log. When I get paid I enter that in my log. Same thing here. Any person who is trying to earn a few dollars needs to keep track of things…that simple!
November 24th, 2008 on 8:37 pm
The dollar amount shows $0 still. Is that because I have not acutlly been paid yet?

What can I say Topper? Ask and you shall receive!
You made a very good point, and you swayed me to your side of thinking! I added a section underneath the Published Articles section named “Accepted Articles for Our Partners”. There you can see the title of the article that you wrote for our partner and the job title that you wrote it for. I hope that helps you!
I would also like the mention that your account overview should now show you the correct dollar value. Problem solved!
I hope you are having a good experience so far with the Informative Post. I try to listen to my authors, and take their suggestions the best I can. I also want to protect my clients as well from not having the content that I sell to them just put up on another site. Very bad for business…
Let me know what you think.

See, even though the write thing is new to me I have some ideas that will help, not only myself but everyone! I appreciate your taking the time to realize that the idea was solid. I am not trying to sell the article or do anything ‘illegal’ against the buyers of the articles or anything…just wanted the name of it and $ amount – and there it is…thanks Doug.

It looks like the ‘jobs’ details are all there…name of article, dollars, etc. Thanks Doug for adding it. SinceI started with IP just a short month ago I feel that I have made a lot of progress and I am really enjoying it!!
