PHP Stands for Preprocessor Hypertext (PPH) Not Pre Hypertext Processor or Hypertext Preprocessor. although the later is what it actually does.so why is it PHP? In the words of the Tootsie Roll Announcer "The World May Never Know."

ASP works very well on Apache server which has Sun-ASP( former chili!soft)
Also SUN-webserver can handle ASP applications quit well
it is a pity that Sun Java System Active Server Pages has entered its End Of Life status

ASP (classic) works better on Windows servers? I don't think that's true anymore. PHP works better than ever on Windows servers now, thanks to Microsoft's help the past year or so. There simply isn't any ASP feature that PHP on Windows cannot do.
