I guess since you’re reading the About page here, you want to know a little about me. I’m a Software Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. I received my degree from Tri-State University (recently changes to Trine University), in Angola, IN.
When I graduated college, I took a job as a Software Engineer for a company in Toledo, OH. I worked there for a little over two years (Three, including a year I spent co-oping with them.) programming in C, C++, Visual Basic, and many of the different web languages. After proving my website programming experience over time, I was given the task of re-developing/designing their website from the scratch.
The reason why we did it from scratch was because they had originally spent an insane amount of money having a developer do the entire site in flash. So I said, lets scrap that if you ever want to get traffic from search engines, not to mention get rid of the hideous 30 second flash splash page. Throughout the rest of my employment there I spent my most of my time doing search engine optimization and search engine marketing for the company’s site.
In the beginning of the forth quarter in the 2008 year, I left the company for an engineering firm in Plymouth, MI; where I currently am working. At my new place of employment, I’m developing desktop applications using C++ and C#, program microcontrollers with C, developing internal websites to increase company efficiency with PHP, and if that wasn’t enough I am also involved with electrical design and controls programming.
Web development was a hobby of mine while I was in school and it still is today. Not only is web development my hobby, but more importantly the scripting language PHP, or PHP: HyperText Preprocessor. I love the openness of PHP and how it doesn’t discriminate between the hardcore coder, and the programming noob. PHP is a viable solution for any individual or company.
Throughout the years I have been heavily educated and experienced with PHP and its proper coding standards. Along with PHP, I also have strong experience with several different databases like MySQL, MSSQL, SQL Express, Oracle and Oracle Express. Over time working with PHP and these different databases I’ve strongly educated myself the other languages and frameworks that work hand in hand like HTML/DHTML, JavaScript/AJAX, CSS, XML, Flash and PHP frameworks like Zend Framework. I want to use this opportunity to help other PHP programmers like myself.
Obviously, I am a huge evangelist of the PHP programming language, which brings me to this site. I decided to create this site to build a community of PHP users like myself to bounce ideas off and to help eventually troubleshoot each others bugs. If you yourself are an experienced PHP developer, I would love you hear your thoughts on the site and maybe a few ideas of what you would like to see more.
