Changes for Informative Post Policies

Hi everyone, I need to change the way the Informative Post pays for content. Starting now, we will no longer pay an upfront fee for content. This is due to having little sponsorship to help pay our authors. Recently I have been using my own money to help pay the authors.

So again, from this date forward we will no longer be paying for articles upfront. We will still be paying for the performance of each article that we have published and will publish. This value of the CPM payments is likely to rise and will be based upon profits from the site.

This new payment policy also takes into affect all the articles that you have in your queue to be published. If you would like remove these articles from your queue, you are able to do that.

I will still be reviewing articles on a regular basis, but in the mean time I will be looking for a buyer for the Informative Post as I no longer have the time to devote to the site. If you are interested in acquiring the InformativePost.com, please send all offers to dlbrown06 at gmail dot com.

Now Market Your Articles w/ Twitter

I just updated the site with a new little feature.  All published articles now have a “Post to Twitter” button at the top right hand corner of the article.  If you click it, it will redirect you to a page where you can Tweet about the article.

If you don’t know what Twitter is, it is a micro-blogging site.  Think of it like a status updater on steroids.  It is hard to explain.  The best way to figure out what it is would be to just sign up and use it for awhile.  You will get addicted to it I promise.

Tweeting about your articles and about other articles that you enjoy on the Informative Post will give more exposure to us.  The more exposure and traffic for us, the better it is for the whole Informative Post community.

If you haven’t been following my Tweets on Twitter yet, you should be!  I tweet updates about all my sites over my Twitter account much more quickly than blogging about them.

December 2008 Content Needs

At the Informative Post, we will be looking for articles covering the following topics this December…

  • Lots and Lots of Chirstmas Content / Hanukkah Content / December Holiday Content
  • Barack Obama coming into the Whitehouse
  • Movie Reviews of New Releases
  • NCAA Football
I know it doesn’t seem like that muchright now, but I’ll be adding much more as the time goes on, so keep coming back to check for updates.

Help Informative Post Start a Forum

Hey everyone!  Over the past year, the Informative Post has grown a great community.  I have decided it’s time that I need to expand the Informative Post to include a forum; a forum where other authors can help each other discuss hot topics; where the authors that are doing really well on the Informative Post can share some of their knowledge and experience with others.

I want to bring all of you together with each other.  I feel like I have found so many authors that write unbelievable content.  Content that people can’t help not to read!  I have a goal of making a common place for all of you with similar interests in the written word to communicate and talk about your ideas and your goals.

I want to start a forum for the Informative Post.  The problem… I have no time to build one and/or moderate it.  So I’m reaching out to any authors that would be willing to help me out in this a build a forum for the Informative Post and moderate it for me.  I will help out in the moderation when I can, but I can’t guarantee anything.  I don’t have much experience creating and moderating forums, so I don’t think this would be a good idea for me to do anyway.

Unfortunately I cannot pay you for doing this for me, but what I can do is this.  To the author that chooses to create and moderate an Informative Post forum for me, I will give 150 AP points.  This pretty means, you’ll be put in front of the line to have all your articles reviewed in the future.

If anyone with experience creating and moderating forums would be interested in doing this, please let me know at doug@informativepost.com and we can hammer out further details. If you have questions about what I am asking, please leave a comment.  Thanks everyone, I hope to hear a positive response.

Why Expedite an article on the Informative Post?

This blog post was inspired to answer a few questions from an Informative Post author.  To view the article I’ll be referencing and its comments, please refer back to: http://www.informativepost.com/2008/01/25/Expedite-Your-Review-272.htm

No problem answering your questions Topper! What is a blog? A blog is short for web-log, or basically an online journal. Like on the Informative Post, our blog is used to update our members on new features and other updates. We did move the Informative Post blog to BrownPHP.com. Let me know if I need to explain it in more detail.

I think you are confusing “featuring” and “expediting” articles. Featuring an article puts your article on the top of the homepage that has already been published. While it is being featuring every page view that the article gets will be multiplied by 3. So while it is being featured, it will get more traffic for being Featured at the top of the homepage, and all that traffic will get multiplied by THREE. If the article is written well, and was on a “buzzy” topic, this can increase an author’s AP greatly. BUT you should only do this with an article that people will want to read, because if it doesn’t get any traffic… it won’t get and page views… the page views won’t be tripled = a waste of money.

Now, expediting an article you basically forfeit the money that you would earn if the article were to be published in exchange to have it reviewed within 24hrs.

Many authors have had their AP rise from under 10 to over 200 by writing about a current event that is getting a lot of press, then expediting it. Right when it gets published, they would feature the article. So all the traffic they get from that article gets tripled.

To review: Yes they did forfeit the few bucks they could have earned initially, but they increased their AP so much that all the articles that they write from then on will be reviewed much much more timely, and not to mention they made their money back in page views. But again, it all depends on how much traffic that the article could potentially draw in.
